 | 26th Dec 2009 | Club Boxing Day game
A few pictures from an entertaining Boxing Day game. I forget the score but I'm sure there was only a few points in it lol....

 | 31st Oct 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Old Colstonians RFC 1st's
A good win for Tewkesbury in a hard fought fixture. With OC's piling the pressure on in the 1st quarter Tewkesbury were up against it but some stout defence meant OC's only came away with 3 points. Tewkesbury came back into the game and before half time so good play between forwards & backs lead to 2 tries, one a piece for Ben Bowers & Ant Richards with Richards converting his. 12-3 up at the half lead to a close fought 2nd half with the only points being scored a drop goal by Richards. Things turned sour midway through thr half and the ref saw fit to red card Shaun and one of the OC's locks after a cheap shot by their number 8. So after 6 games Tewkesbury sit in mid table with 4 wins.
Also included are some pictures from the evenings Halloween party

 | 10th Oct 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Hucclecote RFC 1st's
This week saw Hucclecote the visitors to The Moats. After a bright if fractured start due to many Hucclecote 'injuries', plenty of posession for TRFC saw no score registered until Mike Harper finished off a nice move with a try in the 28th minute of the 1st half. 'Cote' then fought back and added a penalty and a converted try to take a 5-10 half time lead.
The second half saw a similar pattern to the 1st with lots of injury time and Tewkesbury posession but unlike the 1st 25 points were added to no 'Cote' reply. Tries came for Shaun Everis, Matt Stone and Chris Hughes with Ant Richards getting 2 conversions, a penalty and a drop goal to round things off.

 | 26th Sep 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Frampton Cotterell RFC 1st's
A fine autumn day saw us take on FCRFC at home for our 2nd league outing of the season, with the visitors looking to build on a win last time out and TRFC looking for their 1st win of the season.
The result was never in doubt after a 26 minute 1st half hat trick from Paul Baker (who according to their left winger "is shit" lol), some fine play from backs and forwards alike overpowered the Cotterell defence numerous times and a resounding victory to Tewkesbury 42-8. The other tries were scored by Ant Richards (2) and Matt Stone.

 | 12th Sep 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Cirencester RFC 1st's (Away)
New season, new division, new coaches, new shirts and a new feeling.....losing, not sure I like the feeling much.
Some good things to take out of the game and some bad things too but no-one said it was going to be easy. Looking forward to a new season and all that that brings, anout 6 wins and leagues survuval will do for a start lol

 | 25th Jul 2009 | Tewkesbury CC 2nd's v Redmarley CC 2nd's
I decided to stay at the Swilgate and watch the 2nd's this week on a fine sunny afternoon. Redmarley win the toss and elected to bowl on a damp wicket. Things began bad for Tewkesbury losing Clive and Froggy in the first few overs to be 5-2, things startedto lok better with Big Dave joining Haler at the crease. With only 3 people scoring double figures a carefull, slow and needed innings from Gwynner ensured the over were seen out and a total of 136-9 was reached. Despite 2 early wickets for Andy Durrant, Redmarley progressed towards the total with steady progress and reached the target for the loss of 6 wickets with 6.3 overs to spare.
*****Be warned prolonged looking at the shots by our batsmen may lead to bleeding eyes lol*****

 | 18th Jul 2009 | Tewkesbury CC 1st's v Painswick CC 1st's
A great win snatched from the jaws of defeat this weekend. Tewkesbury bowled 1st and managed to skittle out Painswick for 103 inside 39 overs and all was looking rosy...untill the decision to roll the wicket mid innings.....
Tewkesbury began like lemmings and proceeded in this vain until the skipper and keeper got together and steered the ship nearly home, or from 30-6 to 84-7 then John added 19 with Nick Hill to see the game home with 47 overs gone.
Mention must goto Stef 8.4-1-24-4, Steve B 13-5-24-4, Tash 37* and Jamer 29

 | 4th Jul 2009 | TCC 1st XI v H&R CC 1st XV
Not a great day for the club but not one we'd expect to win. Things passed off peacefully apart from a few interesting umpiring decisions !! Not got many pictures of it but Tom Allcoat made a fine 45 being the only performance of note for TCC. Photo comments to follow tomorrow.

 | 14th Jun 2009 | Tewkesbury CC v Royal Household CC
Another successful day out at Windsor and some cracking weather too so a good day was had by all. The cricket proved to be a bit of a run fest with us making 259-6 (S Tame 106, S Vincent 59, T Allcoat 28 ) and RHCC in reply getting 234-2 (D Skirrow 81*, A Cade 88). And sightings of The Queen & Prince Philip too, all in all a good day out.

 | 13th Jun 2009 | Tewkesbury CC 2nd's v Woodmancote 2nd's
A few pictures from the batting innings against Woodmancote at home. I arrived a few overs into the game and left a few before the end but a man can only take so much of Steve batting.......please feel free to add your own comments to some of the lovely shots the afore mentioned Mr Bowers was playing lol

 | 30th May 2009 | TCC 1st XI v Kingsholm CC 1st XV
A scorching day brought a win of the toss for Tewkesbury and the unsurprising decision to bat. After the early loss of Si Vincent the score ticked along nicely, the skipper getting 47 and with a late flourish from Tubs Allcoat, 25 before being run out mindlessly by pie thrower Bowers, the score reached 178-8 in 45 overs. Whilst wickets fell at a steady rate in the Kingsholm reply so the runs mounted and they reached the required total with 5 wickets and nearly 7 overs to spare.
|
 | 23rd May 2009 | TCC 1st XI v Stone CC 1st XV (Away)
A sunny day brought an away trip to Stone. Stone won the toss and elected to bat and finished on a total of 152-9 with Ed Tolley taking 5-34 off 13 overs. tewkesbury's reply started poorly and soon it was 18-2 and after a period of rebuilding wickets fell at regular intervals and TCC finished 133 all out.

 | 8th May 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC Dinner & Dance
A good night was had by all, the food was excellent and the party lasted long into the night.
Added 3 more tonight (Thursday) bit for some reason it has placed them in the wrong order)

 | 2nd May 2009 | Tewkesbury CC 1st's v Fairford CC 1st's
The 1st league game of the season in the WEPL Glos Division saw Fairford the visitors and after winning the toss they decided to field with 7 players due to a car accident (story of the day it seems lol).
A studious start saw slow but steady progress and after Stu Tame got a half century others chipped in with 20's and a total of 170-6 was reached of our 45 overs.
The defence of the total started well and Stef got a wicket in his 1st over whilst Ed looked rusty at the other end, soon spin was introduced mixed with the skippers skidders and wickets fell at fairly regular intervals with Steve getting 1, Tash 3 and Nick Hill got in on the act with 2 as well as a catch and a run out and Fairford closed on 139-9.
It got pretty dark towards the end hence the grainy pictures.

 | 18th Apr 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Ross on Wye RFC 1st's (Away)
Tewkesbury 18 - 5 Ross on Wye
A tough battle to bring the league season to a close and revenge for the defeat at home to Ross, our only loss in the league season. We never crossed the line for a try but Ant Richards kicked all the points and almost had a 100% record again but for a missed drop goal, he did however goet 4 penalties and a drop.
The final league table can be found here

 | 11th Apr 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Cheltenham Civil Service RFC 1st's (Home)
A fine display saw us run our very convincing 55-12 winners over Service. The rugby was a splendid as the weather & some good running rugby ensured 7 tries were scored, 5 for Matt Stone and one a piece for Jason Partridge & Tom Wilkinson with Ant Richards having a 100% kicking record of 7 convertions and 2 penalties.
For those of you with a fragile stomach you may wish to avoid the later photo's of Greg in his going away atire....not a pretty sight at all lol.
|
 | 4th Apr 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Bishopston RFC 1st's (Home)
A sunny day brought the win we were seeking to ensure the league title after promotion was secured a few weeks earlier. After a shock early score from Bish, normal service was quickly resumed with a try by Simon Dawe which Ant Richards converted, tries followed for, Ben Bowers, Joel Bond, Matt Stone, Tom Cane & Paul Baker, Ant got 12 points in total from the boot. In all a good performance and it means the last 2 league games can now be enjoyed in a more relaxed manner for the supporters lol.
|
 | 28th Mar 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Ashley Down Old Boys 1st's
A fine 36 - 8 win over Ashley Down Old Boys means just one more win is needed to secure the league title. A day of Sun, heavy rain & hail did nothing to dampen the win and tries for Martin Adams, Simon Bytheway, Joel Bond, Matt Stone & Tom Cane with Brad Maber getting 11 points with the boot. Some difficult lighting conditions has lead to some dark shots but I have done my best to make them viewable.
|
 | 14th Mar 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Chipping Sodbury RFC 1st's (Away)
A trip to Chipping Sodbury brought a bit of a dour game not helped by the referee's keenness to wear out the pea in his whistle....
A 13 all draw ensued and whilst it is not a loss it won't be up there are one of the best games of the season.
The scorers were Matt Stone with a try and Ant Richards with a conversion and 2 penalties.
|
 | 7th Mar 2009 | Tewkesbury RFC 1st's v Longlevens RFC 1st's
Another fine win and step closer to the league title. A good performance against possibly the best side we have played in the league this year, but still tries were scored by Matt Stone 2, Ant Richards & Paul Baker with Ant getting 18 points with the boot including a drop goal.
